My work is inspired by the coastal scenery I grew up with in California. The ocean has always been my compass whether it be through surfing, traveling, or in my dreams. My connection to the water has always been clear and my art has reflected its seasons. I try to invoke feelings of anticipation, freedom, and beauty within my pieces so the viewer can find the middle space between introspection and retrospection -

a similar feeling I receive when playing in the ocean.

Taking a mixed media approach, I utilize a composite of photographs, stencils, paint and old magazines to create a unique  perspective. Looking through my lenses encourages me to develop a window-like vantage point to my pieces. In order to achieve this look, I cut each photo into a grid and layer in paint, stencils and magazine covers for depth and texture. Each piece is then finished with a thick, glossy coat of resin giving it a glass-like polish. The finished effect is one of stillness, love, hope and dreams.
